Overview

ZXR10 5900E series MPLS easy-maintenance switches are box-like layer 3 MPLS routing switches that deliver superior integrated network services for space-constrained environments in service provider networks. It can serve as an aggregation switch in various scenarios including Metro area network, FTTX and IP RAN, etc.

Powered by European standard hardware architecture, state-of-art software platform, the first-in-industry "Easy-maintenance" designs philosophy, and industry-leading MPLS capability, ZXR10 5900E is a milestone switch presented by ZTE Corporation. With ZXR10 5900E, you can build highly reliable, secure and scalable network, while ensuring terrific user experiences.

 

ZXR10 5900E offers following switch types: 5916E, 5928E, 5928E-FI and 5952E. The interface offerings of these switches are listed below:

5916E:12*GE RJ45 + 1* expansion card slot

5928E:24*GE RJ45 + 1* expansion card slot

5928E-FI:24*GE SFP+ 1* expansion card slot

Modular Design Brings Scalability

ZXR10 5952E is able to provide ultimate flexible electrical/optical interface combinations for users:

5952E is a 2U height switch, while each of its four subcard slot can be equipped with 8*GE RJ45 card or 8*GE SFP card;

5900E supports dual modular power supply, while 5952E in addition support field-replaceable fan-tray.

Modular design brings ultimate flexibility for users to control investment and upgrade their network continuously.

 

Full Service support

ZXR10 5900E supports diversified VLAN features, including  Port-based VLAN, Subnet VLAN, Protocol-based VLAN, Selective QinQ, VLAN translation in order to separate/distinguish different user's different services.

Multicast based technologies like IPTV are important profitable services for service providers.ZXR10 5900E fully supports L2/L3 multicast, including IGMP snooping, Filtering, Proxy and Fastleave, MVR (Multicast VLAN Registration) and PIM-SM to facilitate the deployments of these services.

With IPTV control implemented, operators can apply different CAC (channel access control) rules for users with channel packages.

Voice VLAN provides voice data packet with higher forwarding priority. When voice device access is detected, no matter what the default priority of the voice data flow it sends is, ZXR10 5900E will transfer the legal voice data to the specified voice VLAN, distribute it a higher priority to guarantee they are forwarded.

ZXR10 5900E fully support MPLS L2/L3 VPN technology, providing an economical reliable VPN solution for commercial uses.

ZXR10 5900E also supports MCE, enabling it to run multiple VPN instances without running MPLS, relieving pressure on the PE (provider edge) equipment.

 

Clock Synchronization

ZXR10 5928E/5928E-FI is capable of the following clock synchronization patterns:

They provide BITS external clock input/output interfaces, GPS input and GPS output interfaces, and also support synchronous Ethernet interface service.

They also support 1588v2 precise time synchronization pattern; 5900E can act as ordinary clock boundary clock, transparent clock, and the 1588v2 algorithm can be implemented using 1-step method or 2-step method.

When multiple clock sources are available, the source with best quality can be configured as the primary clock source, while other clock sources act as the backup for the primary clock source.

Usually, it's suggested to use synchronous Ethernet to achieve frequency synchronization and use 1588v2 to achieve phase synchronization.

 

PPPoE+ and VBAS

PPPoE+ and VBAS (Virtual Broadband Access Server) are two very useful measures to provide user circuit identification means in user access network.

When acting as a L2 switch or L2/L3 switch and enabled with PPPoE+ or VBAS, ZXR10 5900E can insert user circuit information into the packets so the BRAS can have the detailed user location info for future billing/control/ACL implementation purposes.

 

Multi-Core Speed Up

ZXR10 5900E is equipped with a new-generation dual-core CPU processor, which greatly improves processing efficiency.

Dual-core CPU greatly enhances the processing capability for data, voice, video and complex data communication protocols. Virtual multi-core technology and dual-core processing architecture improves control plane performance and control system reliability.
